The New York Liberty won their first WNBA title after defeating the Minnesota Lynx.

After dominating a five-game series, including two overtime games, the New York Liberty earned their first championship title.

In the last game on Sunday, the Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 to win the series 3-2.

The Liberty had made it to the finals five times before, including last year and the league’s inaugural season in 1997, but they had never prevailed.

Liberty forward Breanna Stewart remarked, “It’s an amazing feeling to be able to bring a championship to New York – first ever in franchise history – and I literally can’t wait to continue celebrating with the city.”
