The Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the New York Yankees in a thrilling Game 5 to win their eighth World Series.

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame a five-run deficit to complete a Hollywood season finale, winning their eighth World Series victory in franchise history and their first since 2020.

Los Angeles pulled off the greatest comeback to win a World Series in baseball history, defeating the New York Yankees 7–6 in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium after falling behind early.

The Yankee bats got out to a fast start with back-to-back home runs from Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the opening inning, leaving the Dodgers behind 5-0 after four innings. The Bronx Bombers had not hit consecutive home runs in the World Series since Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson did so in Game 5 against the Dodgers in 1977.
Yankee Stadium was rocking as the home crowd started to believe in an amazing comeback after New York slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit another home run in the third inning to put the team ahead 4-0.
However, the Dodgers rallied to tie the game at 5-5 in a demoralizing moment for the once-surging Yankees in the fifth inning thanks to costly Yankees errors and clutch hitting by LA.

Dodgers shortstop Tommy Edman grounded one to center field with a man on first, but Judge missed the routine ball, resulting in a fielding error.
All runners moved safely after the next batter, catcher Will Smith, grounded one to Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe, who attempted but failed to throw out the runner at third. On the play, Volpe received an error.

Yankees star Gerrit Cole would strike out the next two batters with the bases loaded and no one out. Los Angeles scored its first run of the game when Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts hit a soft grounder to Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo with two outs. However, Cole failed to cover first base, and Rizzo was unable to beat the quick Betts to the bag.

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, who was chosen the World Series MVP for his outstanding series, was the next batter to bat. He singled to center, scoring two runs and bringing the score to 5-3. Teoscar Hernandez, a left fielder for the Dodgers, then drove in two more runs with a double to center to tie the game at five.
